Classic Machu Picchu Circuit 2

Circuit 2, or Classic Machu Picchu, is the most recommended option for first-time visitors. It covers part of the agricultural sector and much of the urban sector, including ceremonial areas, plazas, enclosures and essential interpretation points.

Route 2-A: Designed Route

What you will see: Storehouses, terraces, ceremonial and residential enclosures, platforms, water channel, plazas, fountains, waka, agricultural sector, Llaqta Punku, Granite Chaos, Sacred Plaza, Main Temple, Temple of the Three Windows, Sacred Rock and Hall of Mirrors.

Important note: This is the most complete route for understanding the urban and ceremonial organization of the citadel.

Route 2-B: Lower Terrace

What you will see: Agricultural sector, most of the urban area, quarries, ceremonial and residential enclosures, main plaza, Sacred Rock and water mirrors.

Important note: A strong classic alternative for combining views, architecture and the urban route.

Breaking the rules may cause immediate expulsion without refund.

  • Visitors who want to see plazas, enclosures, fountains and main sectors.

Not the best option if

  • Your absolute priority is climbing Huayna Picchu.
  • You want a route focused only on upper viewpoints.
  • You have very little time and only want a quick photo.
